Yves Saint Laurent, a Visionary

Hi everyone!!

I went back home for easter to spend some time with my family and friends. While I was in Belgium I visited the exhibition of Yves Saint Laurent! I was so impressed that I wanted to share this exhibition with all of you!! Yves Saint Laurent was truly a visionary! He was drawing and sketching dresses as a young boy. He would cut out his designs and put them on model figures he made himself. Moving to Paris at 17 years old, he started to work for "New-Look designer" Dior. Dior saw something special in him and tried to teach him everything he knew in fashion. After a couple of years Yves Saint Laurent launched his own collection.

Cut-out models with his little drawings.
Yves Saint Laurent's designs were innovating. Trousers suits, sahara outfits, jumpsuits, uniform jackets and tuxedo's for women!! Revolutionary for his time. His houte-couture items are gorgeous, experimenting with color, monotone black and white, fabrics, wedding dresses, you name it!
Tailored jacket- His famous Mondriaan inspired dress - Wedding dress
Close-up of his work.

The exhibition has a beautiful collection of his outfits, heads, jewelry, shoes and his gorgeous handdrawn sketches. The collection is beautiful presented. He is a true inspiration for designers, stylist, bloggers, ...!! For my readers in Belgium, please go and take a look. The exhibition was supposed to be in Paris by now but because of the huge success it stayed a bit longer in Brussels. For the readers in Paris, it's coming soon your way!! :-)

My pictures- I fell in love with his sketches.
