Black Mermaid!

Hi guys,

Sorry that I didn't post for so long. Hopefully this will be an extra good one!! :-)

On wednesday 13/03 I had my last editorial photoshoot with London college of style.
I have to say that this was my favourite editorial.

We were given the brief of Elements. Namely: Water, Air, Earth and Fire.
The college told us to choose one element and create an editorial look for it.

I immediately was drawn to water. (As a kid I loved the little mermaid!! My favourite little princess. :-p)
I made a moodboard for the look I wanted to create. The moodboard is light and soft with a bit of attitude.
But after finding the perfect dress at Bershka I changed the style into a dark, gorgeous gothic mermaid.
The dress is a see through, plastic knitted maxi dress. Perfect in tone with the trends of spring/summer 2013, sexy black.

Original dress from Bershka

The dress was perfect but it needed a bit more drama and more darkness.
After discussing my look with teacher and editorial stylist Dan Blake I was going to put beadings on the dress. The beadings would look like black seaweed taking over the see-through dress, it would go perfect with the dark gothic style I was going for. To create even more drama to the look I added black fabric at the back of the dress to get a long tail.
On the fabric i sewed ruffles to create more volume. I put some chains on the shoulders to get a bit more drama.
And last but not least I added loads of Black, shinny jewelry. Black stones and pearls, coming from the bottom of the ocean.

Ruffles that looks like seaweed

On Motelrocks.com I found a green/bleu sequined body that would be perfect underneath the see through dress. It would add a bit of colour in the complete look.

Also this time it was an outdoor photoshoot. We were located in Notthing Hill. Perfect area to get some perfect pics!! Our photographer was Christopher Hench. I was really happy with the pictures of my Get Graphic shoot so I was very excited he was our photographer again. Really looking forward to seeing his pictures! I was also blessed with the perfect model for my look, Victoria. She had the look I wanted to create and looked amazing in the outfit.

Here are some pictures behind the scenes. :-)
